"C" Level Welding Overview
"C" Level Welding

Description
The Welding Program is designed to provide students an opportunity to acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to enter the occupation as an entry-level welder.
Training is given in the use of stationary and portable power tools common to the trade, as well as practical experience on construction welding projects. Students learn to apply knowledge of metals and welding processes and solve problems in the welding industry.
Students recieve up-to-date techniques and processes in cutting, joining and welding of metals used in the industry today.
Areas of Study Instruction covers the following areas:
- Introduction and Program Orientation
- Oxy Fuel Cutting
- Gas Welding and Braze Welding
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW1)
- Air Carbon ARC Gouging Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW1)
- Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW1)
- Material Handling
- Blueprint Reading 1
- Math Supplement
- Welding Metallurgy 1
- Extensive Safety Training
Curriculum materials for this program have been developed by the Province of British Columbia to Industry standards. Graduates receive provincial recognition and automatic credit towards the Apprenticeship Program
Certificates
"C" Level Welding certificate is recognized for the appreticeship program and as part of the Red Seal Inter-Provincial Certification Process
Employment Opportunities
U.A. Local 170 is offering a “C” Level Welding Program which will give you an opportunity to start a welding career which can lead to meaningful employment with good wages and benefits in the following industries:
- Industrial & Commercial Construction
- Metal Fabrication
- Mining Oil and Gas
“C” Level Welding is an entry level program required to gain employment access to the Welding Trade.
Entrance Requirements
Recommended Education is Grade 12 or GED. Minimum requirement is Grade 10 including English 10, Math 10 and Science 10 or mechanical aptitude test administered by our center.

Full time, Monday - Friday
